    The Government of Alberta urges you to visit the province before completing your immigration plans to obtain first-hand knowledge of potential business and investment opportunities, markets, competition and cost of doing business in Alberta. This will also give you an opportunity to learn more about personal matters such as lifestyle, social conditions, education, health care and the cost of living.

    While in Alberta on your exploratory visit, contact the Alberta Economic Immigration office in Edmonton or Calgary for information on Alberta and the Economic Immigration Program.

    If your application is successful, the visa officer will arrange for a medical examination for you and your family. Immigration officials will verify your personal background.

    As a successful candidate you and your dependents will receive a Canadian immigrant visa to begin your new life in Alberta. The visa will have an expiry date and you must take up permanent residence in Canada before the visa expires. A visa cannot be extended.
